Game 27 Recap
The Dash continued their winning ways with an 8–6 victory over Greensboro Thursday. Winston-Salem and Greensboro duked it out but the Dash’s four homers were key in the win. Matthew Fraizer led off the game with a home run to put the Grasshoppers up 1–0 early. Aaron Shackleford sent another ball over the right field wall in the third for a two-run jack to extend the lead to 3–0. Taylor Varnell started the game for the Dash and tossed four innings of three-run ball with five strikeouts. The Dash finally jumpstarted their offense in the fifth with four runs by way of a Lazaro Leal RBI double, Ian Dawkins two-run homer and an RBI triple from Alex Destino for a 4–3 lead. Fraizer countered with his second homer of the game in the fifth to tie the game at 4. The balls continued to leave the yard when Duke Ellis hit a two-run homer in the sixth followed by a pair of solo homers from Alex Destino and Luis Curbelo in the seventh for an 8–4 Dash lead. The Grasshoppers put up a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth inning but it was too little too late. Lane Ramsey shut the door in the ninth to record his third save of the season for the 8–6 win.
