The Dash had an impressive eight run sixth to tie the game at 12 Tuesday.

Game 43 Recap

In the series opener between Winston-Salem and Asheville, both teams squared off in a classic barn burner. 29 runs, 34 hits and five home runs ensued throughout Tuesday night’s contest. The Tourists grabbed an early 6–0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a three-run homer from Enmanuel Valdez. Due up in the second inning, Valdez deposited another three-run homer over the right-center wall to push the lead to 9–0. The Dash scored their first run of the game in the third inning when Duke Ellis scored on a fielder’s choice. Evan Skoug plated another run for the Dash with an RBI single to set the score at 9–2. The Tourists tacked on two more runs in the fourth with RBI doubles from from Alex Holderbach and Cody Orr for a 12–2 lead. Winston-Salem continued to fire back in the fifth frame when AJ Gill drove in a run with an RBI double followed by an RBI single from Yolbert Sanchez to set the score at 12–4, Asheville. The rally continued for Winston-Salem when they scored eight runs in the sixth to tie the game at 12 powered by home runs from Evan Skoug and Yolbert Sanchez. The Tourists began to edge away late in the game when they scored three unanswered runs in innings 6–8 for a 15–12 lead. The Dash wouldn’t go down without a fight and Yolbert Sanchez’ two-run homer was a symbol of that. Unfortunately, the Dash couldn’t bring in any more runs and fell short in a 15–14 loss.

HEY, YO!

Yolbert Sanchez had a superb night at the plate Tuesday. The infielder went 4-for-6 with a pair of homers and five runs driven in. Sanchez currently sports a .287 batting average.

TOO HOT TO TROT

Duke Ellis stole four bases against Asheville Tuesday, his second time this season stealing three or more bases in a game. The outfielder is now the sole leader in the High-A East with 17 stolen bases.

I HAVE THE POWER!

After his home run Tuesday, Evan Skoug has now recorded four extra-base hits in his last five games. The catcher from TCU went 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs driven in against Asheville Tuesday.

BUMP DAY FOR ROPER

Kaleb Roper will make his second start of the season for the Dash Wednesday. The righty punched out six batters through three innings of work in his last start.
